Eurogypsum is a European industry association representing manufacturers of gypsum products, such as plaster and plasterboard. It interacts with EU institutions and other stakeholders to inform members about relevant developments affecting the industry and to ensure that the sector’s interests are considered in policymaking.
As a Public Affairs Officer, you will support the works of Eurogypsum, with a thematic focus on environmental and resource policies. You will be tasked with advising members of the respective Working Groups and statutory bodies on relevant policies, designing and implementing advocacy strategies, and interacting with institutional and other external audiences.
Tasks:
Developing a solid knowledge of relevant policies in your field of expertise, covering among others raw material supply, biodiversity and nature restoration, water, chemicals and circular economy;
Following EU institutional developments and stakeholder activities of relevance to our sector, in cooperation with other members of the team and the respective Working Groups;
Defining the positions of Eurogypsum on relevant policies in your field of expertise, in close cooperation with the Secretary General, the respective Working Groups and statutory bodies, and drafting positioning documents such as position papers or responses to public consultations;
Planning, preparing and carrying out meetings with policymakers and other stakeholders;
Coordinating with partner organisations about joint projects and initiatives in your field of expertise;
Organising and driving the works of several Working Groups, including the preparation, management and follow-up of meetings, as well as the preparation of meeting documents, presentations and reports;
Organising Eurogypsum policy events or contributing to external events, including in the form of presentations or moderation of debates;
Drafting communication materials, such as press releases or website notes, and disseminating them;
Producing and disseminating social media content;
Attending conferences or events, as well as networking.
Requirements:
Good knowledge of European institutions and politics, including prior experience with an EU institution or EU relevant stakeholder organisation;
University degree or specialisation in European affairs, political studies or law
Relevant experience with at least one of the policies in your field of expertise
Good communication skills
Prior experience in the field of construction, raw materials or environment is very much appreciated
Fluent English (oral and written) and advanced level of another EU language; knowledge of other EU languages appreciated
Good command of Microsoft Office and videoconferencing tools
WordPress, Canva and social media proficiency appreciated
Good social skills and ability to take initiative
Ability to work in a small team and in a multicultural environment
Flexibility and interest in developing new skills
The expected starting date would be 16 February 2026. We will review all applications and conduct interviews with pre-selected candidates in the week of 26 January.
The contract would be an open-ended employment contract under Belgian law (38 hours/week). The employee will be based in the Eurogypsum office in Brussels (Belgium), with the possibility of home office up to two days per week. The remuneration is based on 13 months and a double holiday pay, in line with Belgian labour law requirements. Fringe benefits include meal vouchers and public transport reimbursement.
