Christoph Dorn, a Member of the Group Management Committee for the Knauf Region Central Europe, takes over from Dr. Jörg Ertle, Head of Gypsum Resources at the Belgium-based Etex Group.
Christoph Dorn has been elected as the new president of Eurogypsum, the European association representing the gypsum supply and processing industry, with a seat in Brussels. Dorn is a member of the Group Management Committee of the construction products’ company Knauf for the region Central Europe, with headquarters in Iphofen, Germany.
Eurogypsum represents the interests of the European gypsum industry towards European institutions. One of the latest initiatives from the association was the publication of an ambitious industry roadmap towards climate neutrality, unveiled in November 2023.
“Taking over the presidency of Eurogypsum in 2024 is a great honour”, said Dorn, “as the gypsum industry has much to offer, sourcing domestic and multi-recyclable materials to decarbonise Europe’s buildings”. “I look forward to supporting the new European Union leadership to achieve its Green Deal objectives and strengthen our strategic autonomy and economic resilience. We need climate and environmental policies which deliver on the EU’s core purpose: economic and social prosperity.”, he added, referring to the June 2024 elections to the European Parliament and the appointment of a new European Commission later in the year.
Dorn, a German national, was appointed today by the association’s board of directors meeting in Brussels, to take over the presidency from Dr. Jörg Ertle, the Head of Gypsum Resources for the Etex Group. “I’m particularly proud of our achievements over the past two years”, said Ertle. “With a climate neutrality roadmap, fruitful interactions with institutions and other organisations, concrete initiatives to boost gypsum recycling, to protect species in the quarries and secure the supply of essential raw materials, Eurogypsum has demonstrated that our sector is willing and able to drive the transition to a low-carbon, sustainable and circular future”, he added.
The president’s mandate at Eurogypsum is performed gratuitously for a period of two years. The president is supported by several expert groups and a secretariat led by Tristan Suffys.
